Easily turn a Ubuntu-based computer into a full linux router, complete with dhcpd, named/bind, iptables firewall, and packet inspection of the network traffic being routed.

Deep packet inspection:

Summary of network flows and all layers of inspected traffic is stored in a database at 1-second intervals. This database is then mined to drive the Apache/PHP web interface and provide various reports on the type of traffic on the network, the hosts responsible for the traffic, total bytes in and bytes out for each traffic type and inside host, etc. See Screenshots for examples of reports.

Note
This is pre-alpha software! It is not yet ready for production use.
